SCTOBA - South Carolina Thoroughbred Owners & Breeders Association

NEWS AND NOTES SCTOBA

Board member Donald Baker and member Chuck LLoyd had a special night at Mountaineer Park on October 5, 2009.  It is unusual to have two horses win in one night, very unusual for two home breds to win in one night, but imagine the odds for two home breds out of the same mare to win in one night. But SC bred Miss Edisto captured the fifth race by a nose and SC bred Lads Starlit won the eighth race by 2 ¼ lengths on Oct 5th at Mountaineer Park.  Both fillies were bred by Donald Baker and trained by Chuck Lloyd.  Each filly is by Lad and out of the Miner mare Miners Starlit.  WOW-what a night.

Further Note: Lad’s Starlit ran second to Vain Vixen in the Donna Freyer SC Residency Race in 2007.

It pays to train in South Carolina

On Oct 12th Elloree Training Center graduate Money for Love lit up the tote board at Laurel Park in winning the 5th race for owner Quantum Racing and trainer Robin Graham.  The Not for Love gelding paid a whopping $260.60 to win $74.20 to place and $19.60 to show.  Another Elloree Training Center graduate Casi Cielo ran third in the same race for owner Maggie Kimmitt.  The trifecta paid $36,063.  How is that for value!
