McCutchen, Custom Care Graduates
Capture 2009 Residency Races
The Fifth running of the South Carolina Residency Races on
November 15th, at Philadelphia Park were the most contentious
races in the series.
The
Donna Freyer Stake was won by the McCutchen Training Center
graduate Beijin for owners Fountain Springs Stable and trainer
Flint Stiles. The Repent filly rallied to best second
place Missbauer (Rentz Training Center) by two lengths.
Third place went to Miz Maggie Mae (Glenview Farms). The
race produced another, “it pays to train in South Carolina“
moment when the trifecta paid a whopping $4142.20.
There were nine different South Carolina Training Centers
represented in the entry box for the Freyer. These (in
order of post position) were Glenview Farms, Custom Care Equine,
Rentz Training Center, McCutchen Training Center, Kirkwood
Stables, Keller Training Center, Elloree Training Center, Webb
Carroll Training Center, and Wright Farm.
The
Elser Memorial Stake was just as exciting as Custom Care Equine
graduate Self Dealin’ Man split foes with a late surge to catch
Tale of the Court (Kirkwood Stables). Self Dealin’ Man is
owned by The Elkstone Group LLC and trained by Tony Dutrow. Tale
of the Court was disqualified and placed fourth for interference
in the stretch. So second place money was awarded to First
Nite (Elloree Training Center) with third money going to
Toccet’s Charm (K. G. Furlong Training).
The entries for the Elser Memorial were from seven different
South Carolina training centers. These were( in order of
post position) Custom Care Equine, Kirkwood Stables, Webb
Carroll Training Center, K.G. Furlong Training, Elloree Training
Center, Glenview Farms, and Rentz Training Center. The,
“early bird“ deadline for the 2010 Residency Races is Jan 15,
2010.
Nomination forms
are available at www.sctoba.org.
The races will run at Philadelphia Park in the fall of 2010.
