Randy Rentz trainee Tin Cup Chalice sweeps OTB Big Apple Triple

Tin Cup Chalice owned by Michael Lecesse and Scott Vanlaer remained undefeated in winning the Albany Stakes at Saratoga on August 20th.  The Crusader Sword gelding coasted along with fractions of 50.88 and 1:15.33 and had enough to hold off That’srightofficer by a head.  Tin Cup Calice had won the first four starts of his career by a combined 29 ½ lengths but was only the third choice in the Albany against a field that included the Tampa Bay Derby (G3) Big Truck and Ichabad Crane who was third in the Preakness (G1).

For becoming the first horse to sweep the OTB Big Apple Triple Tin Cup Challenge earned a bonus of $250,000.  Tin Cup Chalice was trained in South Carolina at the Randy Rentz Training Center in Ehrhardt.  He is trained in New York by co-owner Michael Lecesse.
