Elloree
Training Center graduates shine at Maryland Million
Horses that received their early training at the Franklin
Smith’s Elloree Training Center shined on Maryland Million Day
October 14th. Multiple stakes winner Smart and Fancy
turned back a late bid from runner-up For Kisses for a half
length win in the $142,500 Maryland Million Oaks. She is
trained by Tony Dutrow and owned by Win and Place Stable.
Smart and Fancy won the inaugural Donna Freyer /South
Carolina Residency Race Stakes at Philadelphia Park in 2005.
Debbie Sue weaved her way through traffic to win the
$150,000 Maryland Million Ladies Stake by 3 ¾ length. The
five year old mare calls Elloree her second home as she has made
several trips to Elloree for rest and relaxation for owner Fred
A. Greene, Jr . and trainer Hamilton Smith.
Another Elloree graduate also had a good Maryland Million Day.
Expected Pleasures ran second to Spectacular Malibu
in the $125,000 Maryland Million Lassie. She is owned by
Skeedattle Associates and trained by Robin Graham.
The SCTOBA congratulates the connections of these horses and
wishes them continued success.
