First Winner for Just A Miner
South Carolina stallion Just A Miner was represented by his
first winner on August 9th when the three year old colt Lip
Candy won at Charles Town for trainer Ernest Haynes and owners
Devan Shumway and Ernest Haynes. Lip Candy, bred in South
Carolina by Franklin Smith, is out of the J.O. Tobin mare Sassy
Candy. The colt went the 4 ½ furlongs in 53.67 to win by 2 ¼
lengths for jockey Sylvester Carmouche. Just A
Miner is a ten year old son of Mr. Prospector out of the Seattle
Slew mare Seattle Drama. He stands at the Elloree Training
Center for Franklin Smith. Just A Miner’s oldest foals are three
year olds of 2006. The SCTOBA congratulates the
