Limehouse Becomes Dogwood’s
Latest Millionaire
Limehouse
became Dogwood Stable’s sixth millionaire with his one and a
half lengths win on June 11th in a Grade 2, $250,000
Brooklyn Handicap at Belmont Park. The four-year-old colt now
has earnings of $1,062,433. The win pushed Dogwood’s puse
earnings for the year to $1,294,672 – ninth in the nation on the
Leading Owner’s list.
Dogwood
President Cot Campbell, who was in New York for the race, said
afterwards that Limehouse “is one of the most admirable horses
we’ve ever had. He showed incredible courage to win today in an
important race against a quality field of horses.”
“Limehouse has
won stakes in his two, three and four-year-old years, which is a
credit to the horse and his trainer, Todd Pletcher,” continued
Campbell. “We’ll take a look at the Grade 1, $500,000 Subarban
Handicap next which is on July 4th at Belmont Park,
or wait until Saratoga.” Limehouse was ridden to victory by his
regular rider John Velasquez.
