King’s Tree Trials to Run on
November 13th On November 13th horse
racing fans from across Williamsburg County and the state of
South Carolina will make their way to the 9th Annual King’s Tree
Trails to enjoy the day’s events. Horse racing may be the main
event, but tailgating is a close second as grills are fired up
and tables are spread with local delicacies. By noon, when the
first race is run, the mood is set to watch the thoroughbreds
compete. The Trials began in 1996 when
Williamsburg County Superviser, Richard Treme, approached Bobby
and Debby McCutchen about reviving horse racing in the area. The
McCutchen’s agreed to host a race event at their McCutchen
Training Center. Sponsored by the Hometown Chamber, the King’s
Tree Trials have grown each year in both participation and
attendance. Bobby and Debby have been involved in
the horse industry for 20 years. Their training center in
Kingstree is noted for breaking and training horses that go on
to run in top races throughout the US. Debby is a Vice President
of the SCTOBA. The King’s Trials are similar, yet
different than other South Carolina horse events. The Trials
promotes a casual family atmosphere. It’s the perfect community
day where families, friends, and neighbors come together to
commemorate the rich history horses have played in the area as
well as to visit and renew friendships. For more
information on the King’s Tree Trials call the Williamsburg
